About this Location

The Baltimore MEPS takes in recruits from Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. It is the fifth busiest among the nation’s 65 MEPS centers. The MEPS lounge operates in conjunction with the Fort Meade USO Center at 8612 6th Armored Cavalry Road.

More than 8,000 active-duty, Reserve and National Guard service members come to the MEPS building annually for physical and psychological examinations, aptitude tests, background checks and other matters, said Air Force Capt. Crystal Sermons, executive officer of the Baltimore MEPS.

"Volunteers are integral to USO-Metro, the organization can't serve it's purpose without them. As a retiree, volunteering at Reagan twice a month initially seemed minimal, but it didn't take long to realize how important that time is to each lounge and center. I'd encourage my fellow retirees to give back. Taking that time each month feels good. The past seven years have been more enjoyable than you'd imagine - assisting, reconnecting, and providing that public service. It 's absolutely what you make of it."
