USO-Metro Monthly Center Highlights
On a monthly basis, we will be showing you all of the highlights you missed from our USO-Metro location Facebook pages. We encourage you to follow each and every location page, but if for some reason you missed out this past month, check out what’s been going on below!
September 2018 Center Highlights
Warrior & Family Centers:
Warrior and Family Center at Bethesda The USO Warrior and Family Center at Bethesda kicked off the first month of Fall with one of their busiest weeks since the USO location’s inception in 2014. In a matter of six days, the center hosted a Car Show Cookout, an NFL watch party with the NFL Commissioner himself - Roger Goodell, a surprise visit from actor Adam Devine, and an unbelievable Watch Party for the World’s Biggest USO Tour! Our staff had an amazing time, but needed some well-deserved rest the following week! Whew!
Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir The USO Warrior & Family Center at Fort Belvoir continued into Fall as busy as always - a schedule filled with art programs, professional networking courses with Project Next STEP, Y.U.M. Lunches, healthy cooking courses, and much more! Like WFC Bethesda, the staff at WFC Belvoir also hosted their own watch party for the World’s Biggest USO Tour! So much fun, and we’re only getting started as we quickly approach Fall Fest 2018!
Reagan Airport USO Lounge The amazing staff at Reagan International USO Lounge had an outstanding time assisting/volunteering with the Conyers 2018 Honor Flight for WWII, Korean War, and Vietnaum War Veterans! An organization our volunteer staff takes great pride in working with, as well! We’re proud to support our military any way that we’re able to! #ForceBehindTheForces
Dulles International USO Lounge The incredible group from Loundon Elks Lodge 2406 was recognized by our partners at WUSA9 for their continued support of Dulles International USO Lounge. This remarkable bunch continuously visits the lounge raising morale and delivering food and snacks for our traveling service members. They are so important to our operation, and we could do what we do without their assistance! Click on the post below, and listen to Lodge Representative, Nigel, and his reason for supporting the United States Military!
BWI Airport USO Lounge As the busiest USO-Metro Airport Lounge anticipated, the second week of September was jam packed full of honorable guests. From September 10th through September 12th, the lounge hosted over seventy medal of honor recipients as service members flew in from all over the country for the National Medal of Honor Convention in Annapolis, MD. Our staff and volunteers were exhillerated to host such important and honorable men in a nationally recognized week of rememberance. A beautiful way for our team to give back to the men and women that sacrifice so much.
Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall USO Lounge
New Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall USO Lounge Center Supervisor, Darius, has been hard at work getting the word out about all of the programs and events his lounge has to offer this Holiday Season, as well as the many volunteer opportunities! If anyone you know would be interested in volunteering their time at a lounge serving young men and women in our Nation’s Honor Guard, send them here!
USO Fort Meade
Fort George G. Meade USO Center has been serving an eleveated number of service members and military families these past few months! The Lounge itself has limitations in square footage, but our staff has not stopped utilizing the field space in it’s backyard! From Movies on the Lawn to DC United Soccer Clinics, our staff has not stopped moving all summer! Look out for the final spooktacular Movies on the Lawn this Friday, October 6th, showing Hocus Pocus!
Lounge Supervisor, Nick Soprano, has even needed an extra hand from a younger volunteer staff!
